It’s almost summertime and that means bathing suit season is amongst us! While some of us are not particularly thrilled about thought of stripping down to basically our underwear (and let’s face it, that’s what swimsuits are), there are some quick fixes that can help you to feel confident at the pool or the beach – no workout required!
Also know as a pale girl’s best friend, there have been some major improvements in the sunless tanning world. Your safest bet is to go with a gradual self tanner such as Jergen’s Natural glow.
Get it here.
It’s gradual, so you don’t have to worry about being an oompa loompa look-a-like. Also if you mess up it’s not as noticeable – bonus! I would recommend washing your hands frequently though to avoid staining your palms. Check out this list for more sunless tanning picks & tricks.
There’s nothing like your favorite song to get you feeling groovy on a sunny day. Bring some earplugs along and jam out to your favorite tunes. This will get you focused on how you feel rather than how you look.
Portland’s “Deezy Daisy” really gets me in the mood for summer:
Beach cover up
A great cover-up can really pull your look together and get you excited about beachwear. No need to spend a lot of money either. H&M, Target, TJMax and Ross all have very cute and affordable options right now. Your cover-up is all that stands between you and your bathing suit so if you’re feeling good about that, chances are you’re going to continue that thought when it comes off. Use it as stepping stone to feeling good in your suit.
Say no to the comparison game
This is a tough one. I know it’s easy to get intimidated by the glamazon at the pool who looks as though she’s never touched a carb, but trust me, she’s just as insecure about her body as you are. There will be girls that look better in a bathing suit and girls that look worse and that’s just the way it is. Save yourself the trouble and forget about it. Savor the time outdoors because the summer is too short to spend it inside, worried about the size of your tuchus.
Focus on the positive
There’s nothing more attractive than a woman with confidence. Focus on the parts of your body that you like and forget the rest. Hold your head high, show those pearly whites and you’ll be feeling good in your suit in no time!
