Women may think they know and understand men, but I can tell you that there are still plenty of surprises that we have in store for you. In particular, while most of us guys may seem fairly easy to read, our reasons for being the way we are may not always be as simple to understand. In other words, while the old saying goes that the majority of guys want freedom, sex, cuddles, forgiveness, and a happy woman–why we want these things may come as a bit of a surprise.
Freedom
Men function best when we are allowed to make our own choices. This is why when you try to help your guy, you may sometimes come across as a nag–simply because your guy does not like being given advice he did not ask for. The alternative is to be a good role-model, and then allow your example to influence the decisions your guy makes for himself. This is a primary reason why they say, ‘behind every great man, is an equally great woman.’
Sex
When a man reaches out to a woman for sex, this is his way to feel closer to you. Sex is how men connect with their partner, and is one of his primary means to express intimacy. Sex is so much more that physical pleasure to men, and this is one of the reasons why we sometimes seem to have a one-track mind–because we just love feeling close to you.
Cuddles
Several months ago researchers brought out a finding that men like to snuggle as much (or more) than they like to have sex. The world seemed shocked by this. The truth is, the stigma of men’s love for sex is so strong, women forget about his need to be cuddled. Remember ladies, whenever sex is off the menu for whatever reason, don’t pull away from him completely. Most men will settle for cuddling as an alternative, simply because it still makes us feel loved, needed, and desired.
Forgiveness
Men have a different vocabulary when it comes to differentiating right from wrong. This is why so many men find it difficult to apologize for their actions, because to them, they are not at fault for any wrong doing. A better alternative is to sometimes just forgive your guy for unintentionally hurting your feelings, rather than trying to make a point that he may never get.
A Happy Woman
While it may seem that your guy is selfish, many of the things he does on a daily basis is as much for you as it is for him. Men work long hours because they want to be a good provider. Men spend a lot of time fixing things around the house, rather than spending time with you, because they want to be a good protector. One of the easiest ways to make any guy happy, is to let him know that he makes you happy.
