One woman’s canvass is another’s blood-filled porcelain bowl. Beauty in Blood is both a fine art and biological science project by both Jen Lewis and her husband. Their goal is to dismiss the taboo of a woman’s ‘time of the month’ and project a renewed outlook on the potential beauty behind it.
The body is a wondrous tool filled with many mysteries, many of which involve the intricate design of a woman’s uterus. We may not always understand how it works, but we can certainly celebrate the shocking splendor behind these photographs. They are captured within an aquarium by a complimentary mix of both salt water and menstrual blood.
